The New York Jets have signed All-Pro center Nick Mangold to a seven-year contract worth $55 million.

Mangold was participating in training camp while awaiting a new deal unlike cornerback Darrelle Revis.

The center said that he has talked to Revis about negotiations but that they aren’t in the same situation.

Mangold said he decided to come to training camp because he isn’t the type to hold out and pout.

His teammates were clearly happy with that decision, with some saying he handled things like a professional, a veiled shot at Revis.

Nobody’s going to be surprised by the New York Jets in 2010. And even if people though the Jets could sneak up on people this season, they’ll be on prime time plenty of times.

The National Football League has announced game times and dates for the 2010 schedule. The Jets, who came within one victory of the Super Bowl last season, are a team that will be watched closely this season.

It starts on Monday Night Football Sept. 13 at home against Baltimore. After a showdown with AFC East rival New England in week 2 at home, the Jets play at Miami on Sunday Night Football on Sept. 26. A visit to Buffalo comes next, followed by a Monday Night Football meeting at home against NFC runner-up Minnesota Vikings.

The Jets head to Denver for week 6 on Oct. 17, followed by the bye week on Oct. 24. The schedule resumes with a home game against Green Bay, followed by road games at Detroit and at Cleveland. A pair of home games follow, against Houston and Cincinnati, the Jets facing the Bengals on Thanksgiving Night.

The Jets visit the Patriots on Dec. 6 in a Monday Night Football matchup. A home date with Miami, two road contests — at Pittsburgh and at Chicago — and a home game against Buffalo round out the regular season.

The New York Jets 2010 schedule has been released, with the season opener quite possibly being the highlight of the year.

The Jets will host the Baltimore Ravens on Monday Night Football to open up their new stadium in what is likely to be one of the hardest hitting games of the year.

It’s clear that the team’s strong postseason run and bevy of offseason acquisitions have raised expectations and hype, and that can certainly be found in the schedule with five primetime games.

The good news is that the Jets were a wild card team last year and their schedule doesn’t look very difficult.

Some of their toughest opponents like Baltimore, Minnesota, Green Bay and Cincinnati will have to travel to the Meadowlands, and some of those are primetime games.

Five home games against playoff teams await the New York Jets in 2010. If the Jets are going to repeat their push to the AFC championship game, they’re going to have to handle a very difficult home portion of their schedule.

The National Football League has released its list of home games and road games for the upcoming season. Dates and times have not been announced yet.

But from just looking at the list of home games, the Jets know how difficult a task they have this season. Coming to play the Jets at home this season includes the AFC East champion New England Patriots, the AFC North champion Cincinnati Bengals, the NFC North champion and NFC runner-up Minnesota Vikings, and a pair of wild-card teams, Baltimore and Green Bay.

The other home games come against AFC East rivals Buffalo and Miami, plus a visit from Houston.

The road schedule is nowhere near as tough. The Jets travel to New England to face the Patriots in the only road game against a playoff team. The rest of the road schedule includes games at Buffalo, at Miami, at Cleveland, at Pittsburgh, at Detroit, at Denver and at Chicago.

New York’s 2010 schedule ranks tied for 16th in the NFL (with Buffalo, Miami and Oakland), based on opponents’ winning percentage.
